One of our clients was using a complicated system of Excel spreadsheets to keep track of support requests coming in from their customers. They found that this system was taking up a lot of their employees' time to administer. Kitson Consulting designed and coded a bespoke PHP-based web application to simplify the existing customer support process, as well as providing extra features. The client was so impressed with the new application and the reduction in administration time it afforded them that they commissioned Kitson Consulting to extend the system to manage their employee timesheets as well.
A Kitson Consulting client was having trouble keeping track of their internal documentation, which consisted of a collection of Microsoft Office documents stored in various places on their internal network. Kitson Consulting deployed a wiki (MediaWiki/MySQL) linked to the client's existing Active Directory login system to allow the client to maintain a centralised up-to-date repository of documentation. Training for the client's staff was also provided.
Kitson Consulting was approached by a small business requiring a server to provide network file storage and email for their office. The clients wished to run their own server but could not justify the expense or insecurity of a Windows Small Business server. Additionally, the clients required push email and contact synchronisation with the Apple iPhone via ActiveSync. Kitson Consulting researched the client's requirements and built and installed a low cost Debian Linux server running the Zarafa groupware system.
